The Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing and Research (CEPAR) is collaborating with interested organisations in new research into the mature workforce. This project aims to identify and develop successful work policies and practices that support the attraction, retention and engagement of mature workers. This will in turn benefit not only organisations as a whole, but also teams and individual employees.

CEPAR collaboration with Chinese aged care group Lvkang

Zhejiang Lvkang Medical Care Group (Lvkang), located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, People’s Republic of China, formed a research partnership with Australian researchers within CEPAR in March 2019. This multi-disciplinary project is led in Stream 3 (Mature Workers in Organisations) by Dr. Gretchen (Gigi) Petery (Curtin University) in collaboration with Dr. Bei Lu (UNSW) from Stream 1 (Macro-Demographic Dynamics and Population Ageing Policy).

Lvkang aged care home

Founded in 2006, Lvkang has positioned itself as an pioneer in Chinese senior care and has received numerous awards and distinctions for its care and business practices. Lvkang’s Chairman Zhuo Yongyue is committed to using rigorous research to guide workplace innovation. Findings from CEPAR’s recent employ survey are being used to shape interventions aimed at enhancing the work design of Lvkang’s ageing and age diverse workforce. CEPAR is excited to continue this valuable partnership and hope results from this project will be used to inform policy and practice in the high-growth, in-demand field of aged care.
